Barnet Registration services to join with Brent

Barnet Registration services are to merge with Brent. Although there will be little noticeable change to the general public the registry offices in Brent and Barnet will be run by Brent Council. For several years there has been a joint Head of service working in both boroughs but the plan is for all current Barnet staff to become Brent Council employees.

This service has seen a lot of uncertainty for a number of years. It has been in and out of a number of One Barnet projects but the final decision was to move to this joint Borough service.

This is slightly less concerting for our members than an outsource to the Private sector however there are some issues to iron out about possible differences in pay and terms and conditions between the two boroughs.

The proposal is for the services to merge on the 1st April 2014 and TUPE consultation will begin shortly.
