Coach Escort Consultation extended further

At the request of GMB the proposal to reduce the pay of Coach escorts has been extended further. It was initially intended that a removal of the retainer pay for these staff and a further reduction in travel to work time be made in October of last year.

Due to a number of issues arising and a failure to reach agreement the People Management Group agreed to extend the consultation at least until March while a disagreement over re-evaluation was resolved.

While GMB welcome the delay these proposals will still heavily impact on some of the lowest paid workers in the council who provide a vital service for the vulnerable. We will continue to work towards maintaining a level of pay which reflects the importance of the work they carry out.
